IMPROVEMENTS UPDATE

This Week’s Improvements

Repairs after Monday’s storm are almost complete for both ZM and ZL docks!
Both docks will be accessible by end-of-day, Friday.

Painting, Lighting and Road Repairs
The road on the north side of the marina has been leveled to prevent water collection in dips during heavy rainfall. Our lighting project continues to make progress. Next week, our area of focus will be the launch ramp area and the loop.

In addition, we will begin reconstruction of the seawall between the Island Bar & Grill and Puerto Del Sol next Monday, March 14. We expect this to be complete by the following week.

During the first week in April, you will see new boathouse signage being installed on all docks and gates.

For the new above-ground fuel tank system, we are beginning the concrete pad work this month, with the goal of having the system operational with all grades of fuel by Memorial Day weekend.

Lastly, we are still on schedule to have the breakwater installed by July 1.

Island Bar & Grill
If you’ve been to the marina recently, you can see the progress we’re making at The Island! The interior and exterior are both newly painted. Our new Trex flooring will be complete by Friday. New fencing is being installed around the deck perimeter.

Inside the bar and kitchen area, our walk-in cooler/freezer is now installed. The bar back wall is currently being installed, along with the drop ceiling in the kitchen and office areas, which is being installed in stages as we complete the electrical and cabling work.

Our camera system has been finalized and ordered, and our final mold inspection is scheduled for next Monday, March 14.

As always, if you have any questions about this progress, please don’t hesitate to call Christie or Jim – we’re here for you!

SERVICE TIPS

Dockline Series – Splicing

We recommend getting line that is pre-spliced for several reasons.

Factory-spliced eyes make sense. The splice, formed by interweaving parts of the rope, creates a permanent eye while sacrificing little of the line’s inherent strength. It cannot “undo” as can knots used to form the eye.

You could splice the line yourself. For laid line, splicing is simple, but braid requires a special fid and some practice.

Stay tuned for future tips and don’t hesitate to call or email us to get your boat ready for boating season:
